Welcome to East Coast Cruiser (”we,” “us,” or “our”), a Substack publication dedicated to curating recreational marine listings. By subscribing to or reading our newsletter, viewing our website, or accessing our content through Substack, you agree to the following Terms of Service.
1. Nature of the Service (Curated Media)
East Coast Cruiser is a curated media asset designed to act as a high-signal filter for boat buyers along the United States Atlantic seaboard.
It is critical to understand that we are not a yacht broker, dealer, or agent. We do not represent sellers or buyers, we do not hold inventory, and we do not take a commission on any sale.
Our service is limited to aggregating, curating, and narrating listings found elsewhere on the internet for informational and entertainment purposes. Any transaction you enter into is solely between you and the listing seller.
2. Content Aggregation and Accuracy
Our content is sourced primarily from decentralized, community-driven enthusiast forums and regional classifieds.
Third-Party Data: The original listing data, including specifications, prices, locations, and seller contact information, originates from third-party platforms over which we have no control. We do not verify the accuracy, legitimacy, or availability of any boat listed. It is your sole responsibility to perform due diligence, inspect vessels, and verify ownership before exchanging funds.
Image Embedding: Images displayed in our newsletters are typically “hotlinked” or embedded directly from the original source server. We do not claim ownership of these images.
Enhancements: We utilize tools to rewrite and summarize listing descriptions to highlight the lifestyle potential and “vibe” of a vessel. While we strive for tonal accuracy, these descriptions may contain inaccuracies or interpretations not intended by the original seller.
3. Copyright and Content Policy
We operate under a strict editorial policy designed to respect the rights of boat owners and content creators while serving our audience of enthusiasts. Our intention is solely to highlight exceptional vessels and drive qualified traffic directly to the original listing source.
However, if you are a copyright holder or a boat owner and believe your listing has been included erroneously or infringes upon your rights, we operate under a “Take Down First” policy to minimize issues.
DMCA Notice and Takedown Procedure:
In compliance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), we will expeditiously remove content upon receipt of a valid notice.
If you wish to have a listing removed from our archives, please contact the editor immediately by replying to the East Coast Cruiser post.
Upon receipt of a valid request, we will immediately remove the specific listing from the web version of our Substack archives and flag it to ensure it is not included in future newsletters. Note that email newsletters already delivered to subscribers cannot be recalled.
4. Third-Party Links
Our newsletters contain links to third-party websites (e.g., The Hull Truth, Downeast Boat Forum, Cruisers Forum). We are not responsible for the content, terms of service, or privacy practices of these external sites. Clicking a link to view a full listing is done at your own risk.
5. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, East Coast Cruiser and its writers shall not be liable for any damages, losses, or fraud arising from your use of our content or your interactions with sellers found through our curation. You agree that your use of information provided by this service is entirely at your own risk.
6. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Continued use of our publication constitutes acceptance of revised terms.
